Dr. Helena Jaczek Receives New Portfolio, New Responsibilities MPP energized for new role as parliamentary assistant

MARKHAM – Dr. Helena Jaczek, MPP for Oak Ridges-Markham, has been given new roles and responsibilities as parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Environment, Premier Dalton McGuinty announced today.

“I am honoured to have been chosen for this important role,” said Dr. Jaczek. “A healthy natural environment is critical to our quality of life. I look forward to working with Minister Gerretsen to fight climate change, tackle environmental causes of illness, and continue to provide strong environmental protections for all Ontarians.”

Parliamentary assistants work with ministers on key priorities and projects within their portfolios. As parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Environment, Dr. Jaczek will work to ensure healthy communities, ecological protection and sustainable development for present and future generations of Ontarians.

“For the past six years, our government has been helping to create jobs, strengthen the economy and improve the public services our families depend on,” said Premier McGuinty. “But there's still more to do and Dr. Jaczek in her new role will help us continue building opportunity for Ontario families.”
