Ontario Sets Its Sights On High-Tech Jobs McGuinty Government Helps Start-Ups Turn Technology Into New Jobs In Concord

Ontario is helping two high-tech firms in Concord bring products and services to market.

The province is investing more than $4.5 million across Ontario to help ten companies grow and create jobs. The Concord-based companies receiving investments are:

§Astilbe Networks Inc. – A company dedicated to cutting-edge wireless data technology, Astilbe offers solutions for managing and transmitting large quantities of data to and from wireless devices.

§VitaSound Audio Inc. – VitaSound provides innovative hardware and software products to the hearing market. On the hardware side, VitaSound’s custom-fit technology is designed to give ear-worn devices better performance and safety at a lower cost. In software, NeuroCompensationTM aims to set new standards for quality of sound.

Ontario’s investments come from the Investment Accelerator Fund, part of Ontario’s Innovation Agenda, a $3.2-billion strategy to make Ontario one of the best places in the world to turn new knowledge and new ideas into new businesses and jobs.

“We’re proud to support companies that are helping to make Ontario one of the most innovative places in the world.  New discoveries and breakthroughs are being made; we want those people, those ideas, and those jobs right here in Concord.”
— Helena Jaczek, MPP, Oak Ridges–Markham

“By supporting great ideas, innovative thinking and new technology companies today, we are helping create the products, services and jobs that will drive our economy in the future.”
— John Milloy, Minister of Research and Innovation
